In EP 8 it was revealed that James was born in Alabama, and there he met his childhood friend Johnatan which was older than him, Johnatan would join the resistance as for James its unknow but it seems unlikely due to see himself as useless in combat.
Prior to joining the resistance, Johnatan was married and had a daughter, but the eyesight of her wife was worsening, revealing to James that his wish was to recover her befofere she would get totally blind.
James knowing that Johnatan wish wouldnt get fulfilled by himself, he would, in secret to carry out his wish, taking a job as a courier he would set off to search for his family.
